Flash in the Dark is my first attempt at a night shoot. I wanted to create something harsh and gritty, inspired in part by paparazzi-style photography. This was at the very end of our photo shoot and we didn’t have a lot of time to shoot this set, maybe ten minutes. The sun had set and there was barely enough light for the lens to focus on Athena. To make matters worse, the mosquitos were coming out in full force, swarming around us while we worked. In the end, we managed to capture these images before finally making a run for the car.
Special thanks to Athena, who was such a pro she didn’t even flinch as the mosquitoes were feasting on her while she posed. Meanwhile, I was swatting at them like a maniac in between frames. Needless to say, she handled it much better than I did.
